How to Clean and Maintain your Computer
Cleaning and maintaining your computer are vital to ensure its health. Here are a few simple steps to help you with the process:
Start with running the Windows Update. You will generally find this on your “Start” menu. After clicking on the “Start” menu click on “All Programs”. After clicking on “All Programs” click on the “Accessories” option and next the “System Tools” option. The “System Tools” option will direct you to the correct page.
To automatically update Configure Windows. Open the system by selecting the “Start” menu and selecting the “Control Panel”. Look for the “Performance and Maintenance” where you will find “Systems”. After clicking on this, click on “Automatic Updates” option.
Clearing your cookies. The cookies, also known as crumbs are left on your computer after visiting the various places, such as your email, websites, etc. They are the tracking system that stores the information as to where you have gone. When the cookies accumulate a large amount of data, your computer begins to slow, and you need to delete the cookies. Select the “Start” menu and then the “Control Panel” and then click on the “Delete Cookies” which is on the second row down. Now, click on “Delete Temporary Files” to delete the cookies.
Finishing Disk Cleanup. Select the “Start” menu option and then the “All Programs”. Now, find the “Accessories” and click “System Tools”. Select “Disk Cleanup” from the list and next “More Options”. By clicking all three your disk clean up will be finished.
Transferring your files to their proper location by defragmenting your computer. Here, it is also advisable to download a stand-alone defragmenter. The downloaded defragmenter are much more powerful and quicker.
Ridding malware, spyware, and adware. Use the Internet to look for a GOOD anti-spyware program. You should be able to find one that is downloadable and install the software.
Installing an anti-virus. Here there are a wonderful selection of production. Make sure to choose a reputable one.
Locating “My Computer”. After that to go “Tools”. Next click on the “Folder Options”. Next find “Local Disk”, “Documents and Settings”, “Your Account” and clear out everything in the “My Recent Documents” and “Local Settings History”. Also, clean out the “Temporary Internet Files”.
Additional Tips and Warnings:
To rid your computer of all the unwanted programs or software select the “Start” menu then select the “Control Panel” and next the “add/remove programs”. Next remove the unwanted software or programs by selecting on them.
To restore your computer to better function, select the “Start” menu and then “All Programs”, “Accessories”, “System Tools”, and then “System Restore”.
If your computer hasn’t been cleaned for a long time, you might be required to clean your Windows database. To do this use a repair and optimization software or a system cleaner.
