Dealing With Errors
ScanDisk and CheckDisk (as explained earlier) are error checking applications. However, sometimes an error
appears on the screen and you have no idea what it is or what it means. Before you reboot your computer, try
to find out what caused the error.
Step 1:
Copy the error name and paste it into the Google search bar. You will immediately be presented with several
websites explaining the error and possibly offering repairs for the error.
Step 2:
Not only will these sites explain the error, but they may also tell you how to correct it. Check with a
couple of sites and make sure they all tell you the same thing before proceeding.
Note: When doing a search for an error, most search engines (such as Google, Yahoo!) will show
you computer forums in their results page. You may have to create a user account before you can ask for
help. But I have always found it to be well worth my while and have gotten tremendous help (and even made a
new friend or two!). Besides, it’s free help from people who enjoy helping others! You can’t beat it
with a stick (am I dating myself?).
